Soak in the Fall Colors on Bend Hiking Trails + Parks
If you’re looking for a bit of adventure, why not go on a hike or bike ride? There are plenty of trails in and around Bend that offer stunning views of the fall foliage. Or, if you’re looking for a more relaxing activity, take a walk through one of Bend’s many parks. Regardless of how you choose to enjoy the fall colors, Bend is the perfect place to do it!
Here is a couple we recommend:
Deschutes River Trail
This trail hugs the Deschutes River through the heart of Bend and the Old Mill District. With that being said, the views you will see on this trail are of the river, mountains, and urban landscape. You can access this trail from various points throughout Bend, but we recommend starting at Riverbend Park.
Tumalo Falls
Located just a short drive outside of Bend, Tumalo Falls is a must-see during the fall months. The waterfalls are stunning year-round, but they are especially beautiful when the leaves are changing colors. To get to the falls, you’ll have to hike a short, but relatively steep, trail. But trust us, the views are worth it!
Tumalo State Park
Nestled in the heart of scenic and sunny central Oregon, Tumalo State Park sits along Oregon’s spectacular Deschutes River four miles north of Bend. Its location makes it an ideal base camp for endless outdoor activities: lush green golf courses, crystal clear streams full of rainbow trout, pristine alpine lakes, and miles of scenic hiking and mountain bike trails.
Drake Park
Another option to get your fill of fall colors is to walk or bike through Drake Park. This park is located in the heart of Bend and offers great views of the Deschutes River. It’s the perfect place to take a break from exploring Bend and just enjoy the beauty of nature.
Hit Up the Pumpkin Patch in Terrebonne
Just a short drive outside of Bend is the Terrebonne Pumpkin Patch. This is the perfect place to go if you’re looking for some fall-themed fun. In addition to picking your own pumpkin, you can also take a pet cute farm animals (like pygmy goats, miniature horses, and alpaca), go through the corn maze, shoot a pumpkin cannon, get the kids’ faces painted, and eat food that will make you feel guilty later, shop local vendors and artists, and much more! This is a great activity for families or groups of friends.
