Couple exploring the state park on horseback
State Park near Nehalem & Manzanita, Oregon
This lesser-known coastal state park is nestled between the ocean and the bay and offers multiple day-use areas as well as a campground for those wishing to have a longer stay. Just a short walk over the dunes takes you to a pristine beach, perfect form beachcombing (a treasure trove of agates and shells!), mastering your sandcastle skills or flying a kite. Hike or bike along the park’s 1.8 mile to be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the bay. Keep an eye out for the plentiful wildlife – deer and elk are known to graze in this park and visitors have even seen the occasional coyote. This park also features an air strip – so keep an eye out overhead and you may see someone making a park-landing.
One of the most loved state parks in Oregon!
